WTP enterprise server systemsSome years ago IBM announced the release of the first package in the world that reformats and sends multi-media files and other information from the Web to non traditional computer devices. It was the start of the WebSphere Transcoding Publisher (WTP) that makes multi media files available for the mobile devices all over the world.
An opportunity to view web contents on mobile phones, pocket Pcs and other devices is one of the most important moments in the building of electronic business solutions on the base of enterprise server systems. Nowadays, the process of the rapid development of wireless communication tools is taking place. Thus, the WebSphere Transcoding Publisher allows to make the web content preparation in an easier way. A new version of this software is the WebSphere Transcoding Publisher 4.0; it extends and updates transformation abilities of the previous versions. The WTP 4.0 has some additional modules, like the Voice XML trans-coder that transforms a HTML text to voice information. This is a perfect solution for the enterprise server systems and services providers that need to implement an access to the business information via mobile phones, which do not support data transfer protocols. In addition, the module translates Web information to different languages. This feature is very important due to the modern globalization of the enterprise server systems. This feature makes the WTP 4.0 a unique solution that has no analogues for today.
Another remarkable feature of this system is a Palm OS trans-coder. This module transforms web content for displaying on Palm.Net devices.
The IBM WebSphere Transcoding Publisher is another advanced component of the software system. It includes the Stylesheet Editor that attracts the attention of different user categories. This solution permits easy administrating, backup and deploying the systems that are using any trans-coding web algorhytms.
Independent software developers propose their own modules that can be included into the WTP 4.0 structure. For instance, Telestream provides additional modules, such as the FlipFactory onDemand that adds an ability to send streaming video and audio to portable computer devices. Some of these solutions support the blackberry enterprise server.
The combination of these products from IBM and Telestream is the first solution in this industry, which performs double side transcoding from all multi media servers: Sony, Seachange, Grass Valley Group, Pinnacle and Leitch.
The WTP 4.0 supports the following server platforms: IBM @server pSeries, IBS @server iSeries, Linux, Microsoft Server 2000, Microsoft Windows NT and SunSolaris. This product is based on open standards and is already included to the packages ebSphere Everyplace Server Offering and WebSphere Everyplace Access.
